of the 99th Pursuit
Squadron in E & M
variants. The 99th
flew P-40 L variants
before transitioning to
P-39 Aircobras.
Two historic P-39 skins in
variants for 3 & 4 bladed
props. The 332nd flew
the P-39Q-22 and saw
their first aerial contact in
the P-39 against Ju-88s
over Anzio.
3 P-47 skins. In June of
1943 the 332nd flew P-47s
briefly. It was in a P-47
Razorback that Pilots
Pierson & Pruitt sank an
Italian destroyer and the
P-47 which first recieved
the red tail.
15 Historic P-51
birdcage skins. The
332nd Fighter group
flew the P-51 C with
the birdcage canopy
and 4 .50 cal machine
guns from 1943 to the
end of the war.
Six P-51-D skins. The
P-51 D aircraft flown
by the 332nd came
equpped with 6 .50
cal machine guns and
a bubble canopy
which greatly
improved visability.
The end of WWII prevented the 477th Bombardment Group from seeing
any combat, however they did train extensively in the B-25 J and had
the war continued would have been deployed to the Pacific Theater. 2
